I created this piece back in 2024, and one of the things that inspired my approach was Jonathan Hickman’s Fantastic Four run, which I had read about a year earlier.

When I received the brief, I immediately loved the idea of showing Galactus looming over New York City, blocking out the sun and creating a sense of impending doom. I wanted him to feel truly colossal and godlike, with the world around him looking almost insignificant by comparison.

I had a lot of fun working with the dramatic perspective, lighting, and vibrant cosmic colors to capture that larger-than-life Marvel atmosphere. The shattered planets and drifting asteroids help convey the destruction already in motion.

As is often the case with commercial work, I wish I could have spent more time on it - but I hope you like this version of the Marvel villain (not)!

Love,
Justyna
